Most Wanted: Jumpsuits

Nothing makes me feel more put together than a jumpsuit.

When in said jumpsuit, I feel flawless; it's just one of those pieces, in my eyes anyway, that sensuously says: "I've got my shit together." Honestly, if I could, I'd probably get away with wearing one every day. Being as curvy as I am, I find a hard time finding clothes that fit just right. If it fits my chest, it sure as hell won't fit my waist. And if it fits my legs, it won't even making it past my butt. But with a jumpsuit? Everything is accentuated in just the right way, giving me the most flattering figure. In a jumpsuit, I can tuck away my insecurities - no need to shave my legs, worry about "whale tails", or feel underdressed. Sure, you might experience some trouble going to the bathroom, but that's a sacrifice you make for an air of confidence that cannot be replicated, even with the highest of heels. You can dress a jumpsuit up or down, pair it with almost any shoe or accessory, without a care. No need to worry about matching your top to your bottom - getting dressed just got that much easier.

I really would like to stock up on a few more of these. So far I own two; one in full Diesel denim, the other, a belted satin black number from Armani Exchange. Paired with a blazer and some booties, I'm ready to face/rule the world. I'll admit, I am partial to the deep-v styles in classic black, but you can always find high necklined varieties to suit your business needs, and patterns to add a punch.

Here are my top picks from a casual browse (mind you, they're not the most realistically priced for my "budget", but a girl can dream):

Trina Turk - Iona Strapless Fitted Sateen Jumpsuit in Black ($434.92)

3.1 Phillip Lim - Draped Colorblock Jumpsuit w/Judo Belt in Ink ($1027.64)

Roland Mouret - Verona Double-Crepe Cutout-Back Jumpsuit in Black ($3275.20)

Jason Wu - Gabardine Tuxedo Jumpsuit in Black ($920.24)

Rachel Zoe - Shiloh Leather-Waist Jersey Jumpsuit in Black ($322.22)

Michael Michael Kors - Chain-Neck Matte-Jersey Jumpsuit in Black/Silver ($80.00)

Michael Kors - Eyelet Silk-Jacquard Bustier Jumpsuit in Suntan/Black ($2295.00)

Betsey Johnson - Tuxedo Jumpsuit in Black ($189.00)

Topshop - Metallic Snakeskin Jumpsuit in Gold ($68.94)

Topshop - Velvet Wrap Front Jumpsuit in Black ($49.02)

Ella Moss - Stella Jumpsuit in Black ($326.21)

d. RA - Anemone Jumpsuit in Navy ($154.25)

Indah - Tenno Fringe Flounce Jumpsuit in White ($104.94)

Alice by Temperley - Alice Jumpsuit in Black ($316.10)

Kimchi Blue - Wide-Leg Bustier Jumpsuit in Black ($29.99)

Halston Heritage - Draped Jumpsuit in Black ($625.87)

Faithfull - Shutterbabe Jumpsuit in Navy ($153.88)

As you can see, I wasn't exaggerating my partiality towards low-cut black "powersuits".

As always, I promised myself I wouldn't spend any money, but what do you know, I had a $10 award on my Guess List card. So I did what any fashionably adventurous girl would do, and invested it in a piece that was classic, but impractical. It came out to just under $45.00 with my discount (tax included), and despite my initial apprehension (it's a little more than I wanted to spend, and my cleavage is um, there), I couldn't be more pleased with my (somewhat impulsive) purchase.

Guess - Sleeveless Deep V-Neck Jumpsuit in Boho Blue ($49.00)

It's incredibly sexy, but in an almost elegant fashion. To be quite honest, it made me feel like a trophy wife. It's just one of those pieces that you keep in the back of your closet for that "what if?" event. And yes, it's blue. See, I CAN accept other colours too! This jewel tone is unexpected and refreshing when head to head against its black compatriot, and I think that's what I appreciate most about it.

Sometimes, you just gotta let go of your inhibitions, and jump right in.

What's a purchase decision you've made, where you chose to eschew a cautionary/realistic approach?

Planned Purchases & Price Matching - The Bay, Kitchen Stuff Plus, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Future Shop

I've been a bad, bad girl.

I told myself I would stop. I would end the madness. But alas, here I am, preparing to swipe my Visa once again, and stock up on kitchen gadgets galore.

I present to you my current wishlist/planned culinary purchases, arranged by store.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Bay (Sale Ends May 1st, 2014):

Joseph Joseph Stretch Trivet in Green

I've been searching high and low for the perfect trivet for some time. I have two green silicon circles at the moment, but they're incredibly thin and about the size of small salad plates. Considering I tend to use a lot of big pots and pans, I constantly worry about damaging whatever surface I place the hot pans on. I've been looking for something a bit thicker, with enough surface area to accommodate my roasting pants and cookie sheets. I wanted it to be silicon-based, due to silicon's amazing heat-resistant properties, durability, washability, and plain old ability to cool rather quickly if needed. Plus, I figure that most of the metals ones (even the coated, enamel ones), will retain too much heat and burn my hands if I try and move or adjust them, or that my pots will slide around on a slick metal surface.

And then in steps in this beauty; a trivet goddess if there ever was one. Compact, but expandable. Refreshing in both colour and design. Heat resistant to 600F, and dishwasher safe, it fits the bill (and beyond). Currently only $13.99, on sale from $19.99 - it's a pretty sweet deal. I can't wait to pick one (maybe even two) up!

Joseph Joseph Scoop OR Small Scoop Colander in Green

Yeah, I'm a sucker for matching sets/collections. But hear me out! These colander scoopers are a utensil-junkie's dream. Heat resistant up to 480F, so it'll be really useful for oven-based meals like roasted potatoes that need saving from being "oil-boarded", or to de-chunkify your chicken/roast's resting juices. It sure beats my slotted spoons, and I really can't get over how intuitively simple and modern this tool's design really is. I'd like to get both, although I could probably manage (read: struggle) with just one. Right now they're on sale for $6.29 for the Small Scoop (down from $8.99) and $8.39 for the Regular Scoop (down from $11.99), so for under $10 each, I could afford to scoop them both up.

Kitchen Stuff Plus:

I already have a nice dark grey/black marble mortar and pestle, and it has served me well for quite sometime; HOWEVER, it's way too heavy and large for its main purpose (in my case) - grinding a few small spoonfuls of black peppercorns and pink himalayan salt crystals. You really should try grinding your own spices more often - there's just something very satisfying about the crushing motion and the freshness of the grind, and besides, my poor Bodum Bistro Salt and Pepper Grinder died about a mere month-or-so post-purchase (beyond Future Shop's return policy), and frankly, it was half-assing it from the beginning. Sometimes it would screw up; when I wanted salt, I got a mix of salt and pepper instead (and vice versa). So I got fed up, relegated it to the back of a cupboard (until I have the patience to deal with Bodum Customer Support), and decided to hand-grind from there on out. Now, I'm trying to clear up space on my counters, and I'm getting sick and tired of lifting a heavy marble mortar for a mere teaspoon of salt, so I figured I'd find a smaller, counter-top replacement, and stow my larger marble stunner for times when a simple teaspoon just won't cut it. That's where this precious little piece comes in. I've read a number of positive reviews on this model, and for only $4.99, you really can't go wrong. Sure, I would've preferred another black marble one to match (I'm a sucker, remember?), but the $10 Fox Run Marble Mortar and Pestle in Black seemed a bit too shiny (translated: cheap) in comparison to my current one. Besides, I think I could get used to this simple, understated style.

And so, to complete the set, I'd love to pick up one of these absolutely adorable (this pic really doesn't do it justice) matching salt pigs. Right now, I just have a this huge plastic pouch (the one the salt actually came in) taking up valuable counter space, so this, like the mini mortar and pestle, will prove to be very effective. I was considering getting a second one for my peppercorns, but my Cuisinart 16 pc Spice Rack already has a designated jar for them, so there'd be no point (we're trying to save space, remember?). It's a sooey-worthy steal at only $2.99, although I've got to admit this is one of those things I'd prefer to get vintage, but I don't have the time/patience to search (closest Value Village is 40 minutes away...). That, and purchasing from Etsy, as wonderful as it would be, is a bit too costly for me (or else I would be all over this gorgeous turquoise one). Either way, considering how cheap it really is, even if I do eventually find a snazzier one whilst vintage shopping, it wouldn't be much of a loss to replace it. I've got to admit though, I'm really liking the pop of pink against the white!

Bed Bath & Beyond:

Okay, I'll admit, I would scoff at those who owned a pizza stone. "My frozen pizza crust crisps just fine on my $10 perforated pizza pan, thank you very much." Let me just say, I'm sorry. I was naive and foolish and realized the error in my ways when I tried to bake a homemade gluten free crust... and watched to my dismay at it glued itself to my pan, plugging the perforations. I figured that something without perforations ran the risk of making my crust soggy, so I went ahead and investigated this "pizza stone" bizness a little more. Turns out, The Bay has a very highly recommended pizza stone on sale for half price, and Bed Bath & Beyond sells it for $35 more (Perfect opportunity for a Price Match). This particular pizza stone (Originally $49.99 at The Bay, on sale for $34.99, selling at BB&B for $69.99) can be used in the oven, microwave, freezer, and even on your grill - can be heated up to 930F! You can slice away on it, and it claims to be much lighter than it looks (30% lighter than cast iron? I'll be the judge of that). Considering I'll be making my own gluten free pizza doughs and breads from scratch from now on, this could seriously come in handy. I plan on finding a nice wooden pizza peel (possibly bamboo) at Winners/Marshalls/Homesense; I've seen quite a few before, but never had a reason to pick one up (until now that is).

Future Shop:

I'm a bit of a Bodum fan-girl, and have almost never been disappointed by their clever products (the salt and pepper shaker being the exception). I currently own the Bodum Bistro Hand Mixer (which I scored on Clearance at The Bay for $31.99!), matching Bodum Bistro Toaster, and also matching Bodum Bistro Electric Blade Coffee Grinder, (found it at Winners for $19.99) among other things, and so I saw that the red "hand blender" was on sale and decided, why not? I haven't used an immersion blender since I was living at home, and simply struggled with my pathetic 5-or-so-year old Magic Bullet (that inevitably bit the bullet this year) for the longest time. I am questioning this purchase, seeing as I recently gifted myself (we all deserve something nice every once in awhile) an OXO Food Mill (I persuaded BB&B to let me have it for $50, tax included! How could I say no?!) and replaced my Magic Bullet with a Kitchenaid 3.5 Cup Food Processor. I pined for one when making homemade (from scratch) butternut squash soup, but now I think my food mill would probably do a better job. Still, this video's had me convinced that there is more than meets the eye. $45.98 ain't bad, and it matches, so, you know, gotta collect 'em all.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And there you have it folks; a tally of how I'm going to be so broke ($130 in the hole, to be precise) and how I need/justify/deserve it all. And who knows, maybe while I'm out and about, I'll find even more (let's hope not, for my wallet's sake)(but if I do, you'll surely be the first to know).

Until next dime!

Street Style Trend: Daisy Crazy

I've been seeing a lot of blog posts recently, and surprisingly a lot of them were about this Daisy print trend. I just so happened to be browsing Urban Outfitters, and stumbled across some amazing sales on daisy print items (All under $40!). Convenient, no? So if you were considering jumping on the daisy train, well welcome aboard! Mind you, Forever 21 has two pages worth of homages to the flora in question (with a full-range of doable prices, financially speaking), so I've included some of their must-have accessories as well (Starting at $1.80 - Five's my fave, matching bracelet not shown). Finally, I've quickly gathered some fun daisy-themed inspo from none other than Lookbook.nu, just incase. I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of all over micro-floral (I find it too outdated for my tastes) but after writing this post, I've come to realize how versatile this print really is, especially in its classic "black background, with contrasting white daisies" form. I probably wouldn't go for a garden-worthy maxi, but I don't think I'd mind a single flower or chain of daisies. We'll see!

Prepare for a Floral Fixation:

1 - Darling Daisy Bow Hair Elastic

Most Wanted: American Apparel

This past holiday season, my family and I took advantage of an amazing Groupon for American Apparel. You could either pay $20 and get $40 in store credit, or pay $40 and get $80 in store credit.

Obviously, I pounced on the $40 deal. And my family was kind enough to purchase a second Groupon for the absolutely necessary expansion of my closet (just did a HUGE purge... rather not discuss it, too depressing).

But what to get?

I'm kind of in-between sizes at the moment (10 lbs-ish away from fitting perfectly into all of my clothes - damn you five holiday dinners in a row), and so I'm a bit hesitant when it comes to purchasing anything that's going to attempt to keep my "rolls" in check. I tried on a few things, but none of them fit like I'd hoped.

The long coveted Disco Pants that supposedly work miracles on everyone else, looked awkward on me; the pockets sat too high. The Riding Pant was my next go-to, but even it disappointed me by being too long. I know I could've hemmed them, but the construction of the pants would've given me away. Finally, after over an hour of deliberating, I settled on a pair of super comfy and stretchy Dark Wash Indigo Easy Jeans, which made for a perf buttox. With my second Groupon, I purchased two bodysuits - The Nylon Tricot Micro-Mesh Gloria-V Bodysuit in Black that I've been fawning over for more than 3 years, as well as The Fiona Bodysuit in Black.

Ok, so I wasn't expecting to get two bodysuits, let alone two items in the one colour that has completely overrun my winter wardrobe, and I wasn't expecting to put any extra money down on top of the Groupons, but let me tell you - it was worth it. With my curvy proportions, I often find it difficult to find bodysuits (or really any type of clothing) that accommodate my... assets. And so, to find something that not only fit me, but also provided enough lift (Enough to go braless! Eek!), and that wouldn't effectively put my nips on display?

Jackpot, baby. Give me every colour you got!

Still, there were a few other items I considered getting, but that just didn't pan out.

The Wide Leg Pleated Chiffon Pant Preferably in Magenta. I mean, it's a Radiant Orchid-esque, sheer, pleated, wide-leg pant! SO ON TREND IT HURTS. They're actually ethereally gorgeous in person.

The Cotton Spandex Sleeveless Thong Bodysuit in Red. Unfortunately, the only ones they had left in my size had broken or missing crotch snaps. Boo hoo.

The Petite Unisex Long Wool Coat in either Deep Sapphire/Peanut, Oxford, Sunset, or Menthe. I am so in love with this coat it isn't even funny. It looks so warm and cozy, and the colours just take it up enough notches to be a closet staple. I wish I wasn't so broke at the moment, or I would've been all over this one. Still looking for a nice wool coat to carry me through the cold and semi-cold seasons.

The Hologram Leather Circle Skirt in Silver Foil Lambskin. I can't even verbalize my love for this. I am so tempted to just buy the materials and pay my sister to make one. However, circle skirts are rarely flattering on me. So in this case, I think it's best if I just admire from afar...

The Ponte Gloria V Skater Dress in Black, Syrah, or Lapis. The pictures really don't do this dress justice. Just like its bodysuit better-half, this dress suited me like none other. Unfortunately, due to a very open back, I found I had to keep adjusting the sleeves to ensure that I wouldn't be exposed at any given time. I figured fixing the sleeves every 1-5 mins would be bothersome, and a friend's admittance of purchase regret confirmed this. In the end, I put this one down, and slowly (sadly) walked away.

Cotton Spandex Jersey Gloria-V Bodysuit in Poppy/Melange Green/Raspberry. Oh my goodness gracious me, this is the perfect colour combo for spring! I didn't see this one in the store, and it looks to be almost completely sold out online. Still worth a mention though! Just imagining it with the chiffon pants... omgomgomg.

What are you coveting from American Apparel? Or any store, really.

How to Make Your Own Halloween Costume - Poison Ivy Edition!

Missed me?

Cause I sure as hell missed you!

Ok, now let's get down to business.

Halloween-related business! OOOOOOOHHHHHH!

So I've been working on a concept for my couple's costume this year. Le boyfriend ACTUALLY AGREED TO THIS.  I don't think you guys can really comprehend how monumental this is for me. For the last 3 years that we've been together, Chris has NEVER wanted to do a couples costume with me... no matter how much I begged and pleaded. However, THIS YEAR he totally suggested it! I came up with the concept, and now we're super excited to execute it for the various Halloween parties/events we'll be attending post-midterm mayhem.

He's going to be The Riddler, and I'm going to be Poison Ivy!  WIN!

Okay, I'll stop with the CAPS... now.

Now Chris and I don't just buy costumes, we make our own. He might go a little bit crazier than me when it comes to complexity, but we both can brag about the fact that we've never had to buy a full costume in our lives (Thanks Mom). Sure, sometimes we do have to buy licensed props (like a lightsaber for my Lady Vader costume), but for the most part we do our best to use our existing closets as well as hand-made little details for our costumes.

Here are some Poison Ivy costume necessities, Shopaholic style (some more risque than others!):

Forever 21: Fit & Flare Cage Dress in Green
Spirit Halloween: Passion Red Adult Wig

American Apparel: Cotton Spandex Jersey Short Sleeve T-Shirt Leotard in Forest

Stag Shop: Gloves - Red

Spirit Halloween: Dominatrix Ponytail Red Adult Womens Wig

H&M: Jersey Dress in Green

Nasty Gal: Why Yes Platform in Red Suede

Michaels: Ashland Ivy Collection Mini Ivy Chain Garland

Liminalia: Ivy Faerie Crown Circlet Adjustable Gold Velvet Ribbons Headpiece

Party City: Adult Green Seamless Tights

Nasty Gal: Audrey Platform Wedge in Red Suede

Illamasqua: False Eye Lashes in Deep Green Black

Chanel: Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Pirate (My go-to Red lipstick!)

Remember, it's Halloween - so have fun!  Be fearless! Anything goes! Don't stress about accuracy or all of the finite details; as long as someone can figure out who you're dressed up as, you've done it right. Keep within your character/item/idea/concept's colour schemes. If your character has a very distinguished feature/item, do your best to incorporate it in some shape or form. If you can make the prop - amazing, if not, don't sweat it! Spirit Halloween, Party CityEtsy, and Ebay are great places to grab those little things that really tie the whole costume together. Just be mindful of any necessary shipping time - plan ahead or be resourceful to get those last-minute costumes constructed!

If this ain't enough couples costume inspo for ya, try out Alanna Okun's list of 30 Unconventional Two-Person Halloween Costumes over at Buzzfeed.

Gotcha.

Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Gala

Last, last Saturday was a pretty good day for me. As I was cashing out at Shoppers Drug Mart the weekend prior, the cashier let me know about the upcoming Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Gala. If I donated $5, I would get to schedule a free beauty consultation, as well as receive swag, a chance to win beauty gift baskets, and $5 off my next beauty purchase! Needless to say, I was immediately on board. I have NEVER had a makeover done. I know they offer them at pretty much every makeup and department store, but the girls are always too busy with other clients, and I'm just not patient enough to wait my turn. So I made an appointment, and I'm so glad I did!

It was great working with makeup artist Julia (@JULESVERNE87 on Instagram!) on my "not too dressy, but good for looking kind of done up everyday" look. She used a variety of Stila products (some of which I ended up purchasing) and urged me to start incorporating certain products into my absolutely non-existent beauty routine. Next on my beauty shopping list: some BB Cream, an exfoliator (she recommended Clinique's 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula), and a moisturizer. I'm going to wait for brand promos to emerge to purchase these items so I can reap the free make-up tester/swag benefits (like the Stila one I'll mention below!). She also suggested adding a cleanser to my routine, which I have but tend to neglect due to sheer laziness... ahem.

At first I was a bit apprehensive about my facial transformation; she continuously asked me how I was liking the look and I have to admit I was a bit worried about the direction it was going in. I knew I couldn't really offer an honest opinion though, not until the mascara and eyeliner finally finished the look. When she applied a nice orange-tinted blush, I felt it was a bit too harsh in contrast with whatever else was on my face and used my fingers to blend and mellow it out. I think she took that as a sign that I totally hated it, but I really didn't! I guess I'm just used to seeing myself with the bare beauty essentials (eyeliner, mascara, and a dab of outfit-complimenting lippy on the way out). Seriously, I only ever apply whatever I can get away with on the short bus ride from home to the subway (and I must admit, even on the TTC, I have quite the steady hand).

Here's my Final Look (after a few hours of thrift store shopping):

Dat cat eye.

It was so awesome to be able to look in the mirror and be like "Hot damn". Thank you Julia!

So in terms of swag I got this great goody bag filled with awesome tester products galore. Mainly Vichy, which is cool. I'm going to do my best to try these new products out.

Now for my Stila haul!

As Julia was dressing my face, she mentioned that Stila had a gala-exclusive promotion going on, where if you spend $65 or more on Stila products, you get a free gift! I thought this was the perfect opportunity to stock up on some new makeup, especially with the awesome Super Spend Your Points Event going on at Shoppers this weekend! I had enough Shoppers Optimum points to redeem the 25,000 points for $50 offer and got almost $80 worth of Stila make-up for under $30. SCORE.

A beauty in its own right.

My Stila purchase consisted of Stila's In the Light Palette and Stila's Colour Balm Lipstick in Maya. Julia used a few of the colours from the palette on my lids yesterday, and the Maya lipstick completed my look. I love the palette because it's got all of your bases covered for any kind of natural or smoky eye look you can imagine. I had asked a for a nude lip, and apparently the shade Julia had in mind wasn't available, so out of the suggestions she gave I chose the Maya shade. I felt it not only complimented the blush Julia used on my cheeks, but it was the perfect replacement for my Elizabeth Arden lipstick that seems to be running/wearing out. Huzzah!

The Stila gift with purchase included an exclusive Stila make-up clutch, Stila's Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Stingray (Jet Black), and Stila's Mini Foundation Makeup Brush #35 (which is not sold separately). The clutch is a super soft sueded material, a stylish replacement for my wrist-strapless MAC makeup bag. Ironically, the gifted eyeliner was the same one Julia used for my look, so basically I got half the products in one purchase! When I do invest in some new foundation/BB Cream/Moisturizer, the #35 will be the perfect tool for my TTC beauty looks.

Don't you just love when life works out like that?

After this whole experience I feel like I've been too cheap and indifferent when it comes to my "look". When I look good, I feel good, so indulging a little more on tailoring my beauty regime and purchasing poppin' products is definitely a sound investment.

What are some beauty products you can't live without?

Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Binge!

A few days ago I had wanted to put my hair in braids to get wavy hair for the first day of school, but I was totally out of hair elastics (my cats LOVE to play with them). So, I decided to stop by Shoppers Drug Mart to buy a pack, and I am so very very glad I did. It turns out they had a "$1.00 Beauty Clearance Bin" in which I found the hair elastics I needed, on top of a few other goodies.

My holy haul from Shoppers Drug Mart.

The back of the mirror has extra magnification! Love it.

Although it wasn't in the $1.00 Blowout Bin, I did find a Secret Collection Delicates Mesh Wash Bag for only $3.00. I love mesh bags because I don't just put my bras and panties in them, I also like to use them to wash a lot of my delicate clothing and some of my hand-wash only items. It helps me get away with doing a lot of my laundry in the machine, saving me a hassle and a half. I already had two other mesh bags, but when your closet comprises of so many delicate items, it's always great to have multiple bags on hand.

I bought two packs of really cute and colourful Stylize hair elastics, which so far haven't seemed to stretch out at all, which is a problem I had with my previous elastics. I prefer getting black or dark brown elastics, because they blend in with my hair, but these were just fine for the overnight braid-to-wave technique I was buying them for. And for $1.00 a pack, I really can't complain about the colours!

I also bought a Stylize brush with comfortable rubber grip and I must say, it really is a great brush. It handles my tangles with ease, and although the grip is very "mushy", I actually prefer it over my other, more solid brush handle grips. It really was such a steal for $1.00.

Finally, my favourite purchase - the Stylize magnification hand mirror. I have one of those stand-up, self-supporting, I-don't-really-know-what-they're-called magnification mirrors on my bathroom counter, but sometimes they just don't cut it. I love the fact that the larger mirror is at normal magnification, and on the back there are two smaller mirrors with 5X and 10X magnification too. It fits nicely in my hand, and offers me the convenience and comfort only a hand mirror can provide. If I need to zoom in, I only move the mirror (or my face) a couple inches, and bam! No more having to pause, rotate the mirror to a higher magnification, and losing that one pesky ingrown in the process!

I purchased a few other things that day, and realized that although I spent almost $30, I had saved over $50 and accumulated quite a few Optimum points in the process!

Fortunately, they do have a "Super Spend Your Points Event!" going on this Saturday and Sunday, so my bonus points couldn't have come at a better time! For those of you who don't know, a super spend event allows you to redeem your Shoppers Optimum points for higher redemption values than they're normally worth. Example: If you've accumulated 25,000 points, you'll save up to $50 during the event - an extra $16 more than normal!

For details on the event, visit: http://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en/Home.aspx

Also, I realize that I have not posted a "Back to School Outfit of the Day Part III" today. I'm actually really sick today (battling off an infection), so I wasn't able to make it to school. Wish me all the best so I can make it back Monday!

Love,

First Day of School Style

You know, you high-schoolers have it easy. You elementary school kids too. University and College students have the hardest first week of school possible.

Know why?

Because we potentially have up to 6 days of different classes in a row. In my case, 4 days.

Can you imagine having to meticulously plan out four fashionable and fab first day first impressions?

It's freaking me out.

I mean, should I still be rocking a summer style, or have we made an early transition into fall with the whole first day of school, it's finally September sitch?

Do I dare to bring out my most eccentric pieces; to stand out among the crowd of fifty to five hundred faces? Or do I do my best to blend in to avoid that one teacher who will simply pick on you just because you stand out?

Help?

My schedule for this semester consists of: Finance, Economics, French, Marketing, Psychology, and Human Resources. Kind of bummed that I'm taking Marketing online, but it was the only way to A) Avoid having classes on Wednesdays, and B) Get the best possible prof.

So, I need to figure out my outfits for tomorrow, Thursday, Friday, and next Monday (today's a holiday, so my first day of class is getting pushed to next week).

It ain't gonna be easy, and I haven't really done any back-to-school shopping because I've been pretty broke after final clearance. Ah well, I'll make do.

Some of the many of pieces for Back-to-School that I totally covet:

Silence + Noise - French Hip Hop Maxi Dress (Perfect for French class, non?)

American Apparel - Leather T-Shirt (I would buy one in every colour if I could)

Danier - Style # 104030555 (This is that classic jacket that will make your outfit)

Brian Lichtenberg - Black Feline Baseball Cap with Gold Embroidery
(This would be the be all and end all of my hat collection, I swear)

Silence + Noise - High-Rise Pull-On Skinny Pant
(That comfy pant that you can just slip on with anything and look awesome)

Nasty Gal - Hieroglyph Ankh Earrings (Just so much love for these, I don't even...)

Somedays Lovin' - Cobra Kimono (Make a ssssstatement)

Wildfox - EXCLUSIVE Gold Sparkle Heart
(Two of fall's trendiest colours side-by-side, love it)

T By Alexander Wang - Supima Jersey Leather Pocket Tee
(Comfy and versatile, what more could a girl ask for?)

I've decided that I'm just gonna "do me" in terms of my look, and review all of the course content before my first day(s) of class. I'll be fashionable, and knowledgeable - standing out for all the right reasons.

Cannot get this out of my head...

I hope you have a fashionable first day!
